Courtney Greer graduated from the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of the Arts with a BFA in Contemporary Dance, and holds a certification in Pilates. Greer is as a National Board Certified Dance Educator, and has served on many national and statewide committees as a curriculum specialist. She co-authored an educational curriculum titled Whole Body Wellness (Yoga and Pilates class) that’s implemented in the Wake County Public School System. Greer receives great inspiration from teaching and encouraging students the importance of a lifelong commitment to movement, dance and wellness.Her other professional, performance, choreography & teaching credits include: UNC School of the Arts, Middlebury College, Meredith College, Howard Community College (Md.), NC State University, & UNC Chapel Hill.
HELEN HICKEY
Helen Hickey is a teacher and dancer born in Chicago, IL and raised in Chapel Hill, NC. While growing up in Chapel Hill she had the opportunity to study with Gene Medler and was a member of The North Carolina Youth Tap Ensemble for five years. With NCYTE, she was able to travel all over the country and perform at many different venues including the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. She went to The University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. There, she pursued her love for dance and cultivated her interest in choreography. She then attended Sarah Lawrence College where she received her Master of Fine Arts in Dance and had the opportunity to study with and perform for Sara Rudner, Emily Devine, Rose Anne Thom, Gwen Welliver, Jody Melnick, Maxine Sherman, Rashaun Mitchell and many others. In New York Helen was the assistant for Jody Sperling, Artistic Director of Time Lapse Dance Company, for one semester. She is currently teaching at Barriskill Dance Theatre School in Durham, NC; where she is the Director of the Tap Program and Choreographer for the Musical Theatre Program. There, she also teaches Contemporary, Improvisation and Composition, and Jazz. Finally, she the Director and founder of Helen Hickey Dance Company (based in Durham NC) as well as a Company Member with Footnotes Tap Ensemble.
REBECCA McRAE
Rebecca McRae holds a BFA in dance education from East Carolina University. During her time at ECU, Rebecca performed with the Walt Disney Company, as well as performed and studied at The American Dance Festival in Durham.Her focus at ADF consisted of composition, ballet and modern dance techniques. Following graduation, Rebecca performed in modern and contemporary companies in New York City. Among these were BNW:Dance, Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Bridge for Dance, Inc. and 60x60 Dance. While in New York she also served as dance instructor and manager of an arts enrichment program at NY Kids Club. Since returning to North Carolina, she has instructed at South East Dance Academy in Wilmington and Piedmont School of Music and Dance in Charlotte. Rebecca finally returned to her public education roots and began teaching at Cox Mill High School in Concord. There she grew a 9-12 program, where her students’ choreography was successfully chosen for local dance festivals. Most recently she taught at ArtSpace Charter School in Asheville. There, she also cultivated a K-8 program and coached a successful Dance Team to winning top scores at local competitions. She is trained in ballet, jazz, tap, modern, pointe and contemporary dance. Rebecca also has a passion for musical theater and has choreographed for musicals in Charlotte and Asheville.
